A January 21, 1943, Lowell Tribune article (page 2, column 1) mentioned that Albin "Lefty" Carlson of Shelby, having completed his seven days' furlough following induction, was leaving for Ft. Benjamin Harrison that week.
The following was found in the February 18, 1943, Lowell Tribune on page 2, column 1:
- Albin "Lefty" Carlson is stationed in Utah for his basic training.
This March 25, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
- Pvt. Albin "Lefty" Carlson, has been promoted to Corporal. He is now stationed at Springfield, Mo.
