Anna "Annie" Berg (1877-1904)
- Annie Berg was born in Kankakee County, Illinois, June 22, 1877. She moved with her parents to Klaasville, Lake Co., Ind., where she received her education in a parochial and public school. She next moved with her parents to Lowell where she was assistant post master under her father's term of office, where she was well known and well liked by everyone.
In August 1899 she became a Sister of Mercy of the Franciscan order at Joliet. In April 1903 she took up her work as a professional nurse in the St. Anthony's hospital at Chicago where she worked faithfully until death took her.
She underwent a very dangerous operation Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1904, and was getting along fine, until Wednesday evening at 9 o'clock when she suddenly died with a hemorrhage of the lungs.
She was buried at Joliet, Ill., Saturday, Oct. 29, at 8 a.m., leaving her father, mother, seven sisters and two brothers besides other relatives and friends, to mourn her death.
