Anne "Annie" Lloyd Stilson (1855-1928)
(Mrs. Edward Stilson)
- Annie Lloyd Stilson was the youngest child of George and Laura Lloyd. She was born August 20, 1855, in Crown Point, Ind., and departed this life December 21, 1928, aged 73 years, 4 months and 8 days.
November 19, 1879, Miss Annie Lloyd was united in marriage to Edward Stilson. To this union was born four children, one son and three daughters. Mrs. Stilson has lived a somewhat lonely life since 19 years ago when her companion and the father took his flight. The son, Schuyler, has made things as pleasant as possible for his mother and no doubt no one shall miss her as will he.
Mrs. Stilson, or "Anne" as her old friends familiarly called her, lived in the vicinity of Creston all her life. It was at Creston church she was baptized in her faith. She was an active and faithful member of the Ladies Aid Society, always being present at the different meetings, ready to do her part as long as her health would permit.
She leaves to mourn her going, a devoted son, Schuyler Stilson, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Pearl Taylor, of Creston; Mrs. Zada Edgerton, of San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. Ruby Kallgren, of Chicago; one sister, Mrs. Artie Mallahan, of Livingston, Montana; one brother, Lyman Lloyd, of Chicago; two grand children, Mrs. Ethel Bock, of Gary, and Miss Gwendolyn Kallgren, of Chicago. Besides these there are numerous relatives and friends who will miss her in her going.
Funeral services were held at the Creston M.E. church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. V.V. Hackley conducted the service. Interment was made in the family lot in the Creston cemetery in charge of Weaver and Son.
- How sweet is the memory of the mother we loved;
Who has gone on before us to Heaven above;
With patience she suffered, her troubles she bore,
But now they are ended, she suffers no more.
Sad was the parting, and fills us with pain,
But, we thank God for the promise of meeting again.
