Anthony J. Kroeger (1880-1937)

The following August 12, 1937 Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 2, column 3. The first line of the obituary has been excluded here, as it mistakenly was typed from the obituary of Mrs. Wiabke (Fedde) Harding), whose obituary appeared in its entirity immediately after Father Kroger's obituary.
. . . July 6, 1880, at Mendota, Ill. He was ordained June 27, 1914, by the Rt. Rev. Herman J. Alerding, Bishop of Fort Wayne, in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, after finishing his college and seminary courses at St. Meinrad Abbey, St. Meinrad, Indiana.

His first appointment was that of assistant at St. Mary's parish at Decatur, but owing to ill health he was relieved of active duty and granted a leave of absence in 1920. Later he was appointed Chaplain of St. Josephs' hospital at Logansport. On July 17, 1925, he became pastor of St. Patrick's Church, Oxford, Ind., where he remained two years before coming to St. Edward's parish, Lowell, as pastor in 1927.

Rev. Kroeger is survived by his mother, Mrs. August Kroeger, of Aurora; a brother, Leo, also of Aurora; an aunt, Mrs. Veronica Kroeger, of Logansport; and many cousins in the Logansport deanery.

Card of Thanks: We desire to extend thanks to the many Lowell friends of Rev. Anthony Kroeger for their many expressions of sympathy to us since his untimely death, and for the many words of praise for our departed brother. Signed: Mrs. Kroeger and daughter Mildred.
