August Schuster

The following July 11, 1929, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1, column 6:

    AUG. SCHUSTER FATALLY HURT

DIES IN GARY HOSPITAL FROM INJURIES RECEIVED NEAR CEDAR LAKE.

August Schuster died in the Mercy hospital at Gary last Thursday morning as a result of injuries received when he was hit by an auto on the county concrete road near Cedar Lake the night before.

Mr. Schuster was walking along the road late at night, being on his way to his home. A car from Lowell came along and in some manner, he was hit and knocked down, but not seriously hurt. A car following the car from Lowell then struck him again before he could be removed from the road. Mr. Schuster had both legs broken and was injured internally.

The accident was a very deplorable one but from what we can learn was unavoidable and no blame is attached to the drivers of the cars.

Funeral services were held Saturday with interment at Crown Point.
