The following article was found in the May 7, 1970, Lowell Tribune on page 11, columns 6-7:

    Former Resident Dies

    Mrs. Bernice Nelson Grant of Des Moines, Washington, died April 13, 1970. She was 87 years of age.

    Mrs. Grant was born in West Creek Township, the daughter of Frank and Emeline Nelson. She attended the local schools and was a graduate of Purdue University.

    Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Drake of Fresno, Calif.; a son, L. Murray Grant of Dillon, Mont.; two grandchildren; a brother, Mr. Ned Nelson of Providence, R.I.; and three sisters, Mrs. Marian Hayden of Lowell, Mrs. Julia Diggs of California and Mrs. Emily Chipman of Plymouth, Ind. Her husband, Mr. E. Murray Grant, preceded her in death.

Note: The Jan. 1981 "Pioneer History" column lists Bernice Nelson Grant's husband as "E. Murray Grant."
