Carl Graves Wounded in War
Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Graves of Belshaw received word from the United States Navy Department on Wednesday, April 10, that their son, Carl, was seriously wounded in Viet Nam.Carl, 20 years old, graduated from Lowell High School, and joined the U.S. Navy in March of 1966.
He was a crew member on a PT Boat patrolling coastal waters, rivers and lakes. The patrol boat assault force was operating in what has been nicknamed by American forces as "Route 66." On Thursday, April 4th, Carl received extensive wounds about the face and arms and was admitted to the 24th Evacuation Hospital in Viet Nam. As soon as possible he will be moved to a hospital in Japan.
