Catherine M. Sears Pettibone (1830-1899)
(Mrs. David Kidder Pettibone)

A copy of the following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
The death of Mrs. Catherine* Pettibone, wife of D. K. Pettibone, occurred last Saturday morning at her home west of town, after a short illness with lung fever. She contracted a heavy cold during the severe cold spell and it settled on her lungs, and she was unable to survive it.

Deceased came to Crown Point in an early day from New York State. She was born August 22d. 1830, and was in her 68th year. She leaves a husband and three children, Will, Louis and Laura, to mourn the loss of a wife and mother.

The funeral was held at the M.E. church on Monday afternoon, attended by a large concourse of mourning friends and relatives.

* NOTE -- Mrs. Pettibone's first name was spelled "Catharine" in her husband's obituary.
