The following April 7, 1927, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1, column 2:
    Mrs. Catherine Purchase, who has been in very poor health for some time, passed away at her home in Lowell yesterday morning. Funeral services will be held at the home today Thursday at 2 p.m.

This April 14, 1927, Lowell Tribune obituary appeared on page 1, column 5:
    Catherine Purchase was born in Chicago, March 3, 1859, and died at her home in Lowell, April 5, 1927, aged 68 years, 1 month and 2 days. When a small child she moved with her parents to Lowell.

    She was united in marriage to Lewis Purchase, May 7, 1890. To this union two sons were born, Thomas and William. William was killed in an accident several years ago and her husband preceded her in death.

    The deceased was a woman who bore the respect and esteem of all who knew her. She was a Christian woman and her greatest pleasure in life was serving her Master and making a pleasant home for her family. She will be missed by a large circle of friends.

    She leaves to mourn her death, one son, Thomas; one sister, Miss Elizabeth Grant, of Lowell; three brothers, James and Thomas Grant of Lowell, and William Scanlan, of Thayer.

    Funeral services were held at the home Thursday, April 7th. Mr. Galley, of Chicago, had charge of the funeral services. Interment was made in Lowell cemetery in charge of Weaver and Son. The following acted as pall bearers: C.N. Gragg, E.H. Ruge, William Schultz, A.H. Maxwell, P.M. McNay, Bert Craft.
