Staff Sergt. Spindler Visits Home
Staff Sergt. Henry Spindler, former employee of the local Sears store, who is stationed at an air field near San Antonio, Texas, is home on furlough for a few days.The following article from the Lowell Tribune (Aug. 25, 1993) can be found in the Local History Files at Lowell Public Library (LH--Vital Statistics, vol. 4, page 45):
- Charles Henry "Hank" Spindler, age 81, of Kouts, passed away Wed., Aug. 18, 1993. He is survived by four daughters, Sister Davidanne "Peg" of Gary; Kathleen (Cass) Spindler of Hesperia, California, Mary Ann (Russell) Libby of Mount Vernon, Maine, and Jane (Jeff) Edwards of Kouts; one son, Mike (Mari) Spindler of Barrington, Illinois; nine grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, D. Marion Spindler, in 1991. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Aughst 22 at Sheets Funeral Home, Lowell, with Rev. Raymond Morrison officiating. Cremation followed at Oakland Memory Lanes in Dolton, Illinois. Visitation was held from 4-9 p.m. on August 21. Hank Spindler was a military veteran of World War II and worked in the hardware business in Lowell. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity School in Gary or the Kouts Food Pantry.
