A copy of the following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
Charles Surprise, Jr. To Wed Chicago Girl
Plans are in progress for the June wedding of Bonnie Jean Petersen, of Chicago, and Charles L. Surprise, Jr., of Lowell.Formal announcement of their engagement was made by Miss Petersen's mother, Mrs. Gordon Fischer, of Chicago, at a party given in their honor January 14th in Chicago by Miss Ranae Bresin.
Bonnie Jean, an alumna of Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is now employed as a cosmetician for Elizabeth Arden. Inc. Charles is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Surprise, publishers of the Lowell Tribune. He attended St. Joseph's College, Collegeville, Ind., and Indiana University Extension. He is associated with the Tribune.
The couple will reside in Lowell.
