The following June 28, 1951, Lowell Tribune obituary was found on page 7, column 2:
- Lottie E. Mahler, daughter of Joseph and Anna Hajic, was born in Chicago
on November 29, 1891, and passed away at her home, on the east side of
Lowell, June 21, at the age of 59 years, 7 months and 22 days.
She lived in Chicago until her marriage to Carl E. Mahler on October 30, 1912. She had no children of her own, but reared two foster children, Mrs. Bernice Karlson [Karlsson] and Donald Nelson.
A member of the Methodist church in Lowell, her friends and neighbors spoke of her in the highest esteem and love. She was a splendid woman and a good neighbor.
Two brothers and three sisters and her parents preceded her to the Great Beyond. Two sisters, Elizabeth Bastear and Sophia Naumann, both of Chicago, with numerous nephews and nieces, survive.
Funeral services, in charge of Kenneth Sheets, were held Sunday, June 24, at 2 p.m., Rev. Paul Reisen officiating. Interment was in the Lowell cemetery.

His chamber in the silent halls of death,
Thou go not, like a quarry-slave at night,
Scourged to his dungeon, but sustained and soothed
By an unfaltering trust, approach.
