The following article appeared in the January 1, 1934, issue of the Lowell Tribune (page 1, column 1):

    ENTERTAINS ON HER BIRTHDAY

    Charlotte Hope Davis was hostess to seven little girls on her birthday. She was eight years old on Friday, December 29th.

    The guests were asked not to bring presents for Charlotte, but to bring a package for the grab bag. Much fun was had by all following their string until they found their present.

    After an afternoon of games, all were glad to enter the dining room where the table was decorated with a miniature lake with fir trees and banks of sparkling snow, with tiny dolls skating on the ice.

    Delicious refreshments of chicken sandwiches, cake, ice cream, and cocoa was served. The girls requested that the birthday cake candles be lighted and the room darkened and they sang Happy Birthday which made the party a real success.
