The following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

MRS. MEL JONES VICTIM OF BURNS

Mrs. Mel Jones was seriously burned about the arms and legs last Friday afternoon when her clothing was ignited as she was burning trash. She was rushed to Gary Mercy hospital, where she is reported to be improving by her family, who, along with her many friends are praying for her quick recovery and early return home.

Mr. and Mrs. Jones are the parents of Mrs. Archie Buckley, who owns and operates Eleanor's Beauty Salon, and Mrs. Everett Warne and Kenney Jones of the Lowell Royal Blue store.
