The following January 6, 1921, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 6:

    Accidentally Shoots Self

    Clarence, 18 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Baxter formerly of Shelby but now living at San Pierre, Ind., was shot and seriously injured a week ago Monday. He was working with an automatic shot gun when it was discharged, the shot tearing through the right hand and again through the arm just below the shoulder. Local medical aid was obtained and the young man was taken to Lakeside hospital in Chicago. An effort is being made to save his arm, but last reports give his condition serious.
