A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the May 24, 1954, Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

Lowell Man Dies Of Auto Injuries

Claude Ponto, 69, of Route 1, Lowell, died late Sunday in St. Margaret Hospital of complications resulting from injuries he received in an auto accident in Schneider May 6.

The death was Lake County's 23rd this year attributable to traffic.

An autopsy was to be performed today to determine the exact cause of death.

Ponto's auto collided with another on Schneider's main street shortly before 8 p.m. May 6. Police said he turned in front of an oncoming vehicle. Three others were injured in the mishap.
