A portion of an unidentified newspaper article, ca. the early 1900's, was found in a scrapbook owned by Betty Burton of Lowell:

C.O. Hill has sold a 2/3's interest in the Lowell Telephone Co. to J.H. Spindler and S. C. Pletcher, taking the Pletcher & Sheets store in part payment. Mr. Spindler informs us that big improvements will be added to the telephone system. We bespeak for all parties concerned big . . .
