A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the May 27, 1954, Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    CLIFFORD STOWELL NATIVE OF LOWELL DIES SUDDENLY

    Clifford T. Stowell, son of Homer and Emily Stowell was born near Lowell Jan. 31, 1879 and passed away suddenly while visiting relatives in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky on Monday, May 17. Funeral services and burial were in Topeka, Kansas, Thursday May 20.

    Clifford's early life was spent in and around Lowell. With his family he moved to Kansas in 1908 where he since resided.

    He is survived by a son Millard of Chicago, a daughter Mrs. George Greenwood of Topeka, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, also as sister, Mrs. Robert E. Pemble of Momence, Ill. His wife passed away two years ago.
