The following unidentified newspaper article, probably from 1955, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

GRANDSON OF LOWELL'S FOUNDER VISITS HERE

D.J. Halsted and wife of Topeka, Kansas, were guests in the Pulver home from Wednesday until Saturday.

Mr. Halsted, grandson of the late Melvin A. Halsted, founder of Lowell, is a cousin of Jessie Pulver and Mrs. J.N. Hayden.
