Dale M. Kazen

A May 31, 1951, Lowell Tribune article on page 5, column 3, listed Dale M. Kazen as among eleven men accepted for the armed services and headed to Indianapolis for induction.


This April 10, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 3, columns 1-3:
    With the 40th Infantry Div. in Korea -- Pvt. Dale M. Kazen, Cedar Lake, was recently awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, symbol of the front line fighting man, while with the 40th Infantry Division in Korea.

    The badge shows a miniature Revolutionary War flintlock rifle mounted against a blue rectangle. A silver wreath extends across the bottom and up the sides of the badge.

    The 40th, from Southern California, was the first National Guard division to arrive overseas after the start of the Korean War. The unit trained for 16 months in Japan before it was committed to Korea in January.

    Pvt. Kazen is a member of Company K in the 160th Infantry Regiment.
