West Creek Farmer Finds Box of Baby Clothes in Tree
Dale Meyer, operator of a farm in West Creek township, about 3 miles northwest of the junction of 2 and 41, the Sheriff's office baffled this week with a box of baby clothes which he found in a tree on his farm Sunday while cultivating corn.He told Deputies Chris Anton and Dan Meanovich that he had noted the box, tied to a weeping willow tree along the Cherry Hill Duck Farm road, for several days. Sunday he decided to investigate further.
Inside, after cutting the box down from the tree, he found a neatly placed assortment of baby blankets, baby clothes, a bottle, books on baby care, and a baby's prescription from which the name of the doctor had been scratched, as well as other articles,
The deputies searched the area for traces of a tiny corpse or evidence of a newly made grave, on the theory that a child may have been murdered, but found nothing.
