Daniel "Dan" Cleaver
- Daniel Cleaver was born August 27, 1843*, and died at his home in Englewood, June 10, 1892; his age being at the time of his death 49 years, 9 months and 25 days*. The disease that ended his earthly career was typhoid fever in a very virulent form; he being sick but a few days. He was joined in marriage to his new bereaved wife, Adaline Allen, Dec. 1, 1870. To this union were born three children, two of which survive their father, Carrie the eldest having died of diphtheria about two and a half years ago. "Dan" as he was familiarly called, was one of the most jovial men we ever knew; meeting his friends at all times with a warm and friendly greeting. In his family he was a kind and indulgent husband and father; in the neighborhood, an obliging neighbor. His remains were brought to Lowell, Sunday, June 12th, and were followed to the West Creek church, where the funeral services were held, by the largest procession of friends and neighbors ever seen here; thus attesting the esteem in which he was held in this community. Rev. Lambert preached the funeral discourse, William Krimbelll officiating as master of the Masonic ceremonies; Mr. Cleaver being a member of Colfax Lodge A.F. and F.M. His mortal remains were laid to rest inthe West Creek cemetery. He leaves a wife, two children and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn him. We extend to the bereaved family our sincerest sympathy in this their dark hour of bereavement.
