David Albert Knisely (1855-1914)
- David Albert Knisely was born near Lowell September 27, 1855, and died at his home in Lowell on October 15, 1914, at the age of 59 years and 18 days. His boyhood years were spent on his father's farm west of Lowell on the state line.
On February 10, 1879, he was united in marriage to Lizzie Tramm, who with his two sons, Edward and Herman, and six daughters, Mrs. Herman Stadt, Mrs. Will Atwood, Mrs. Earl Miller, Mrs. Henry Graves, Jr., and Flora and Ruby, survive him. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Edgar Hayden, and Mrs. Herman Eilerman, and seven grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
In the spring of 1903 Mr. Knisely moved to Lowell and has been a respected citizen of our town since that time.
Some twenty years ago he accepted Jesus as his personal Savior and since that time has lived a consistent Christian life.
Since last March Mr. Knisely has gradually failed in health, and for the last two months has failed rapidly and on Thursday evening, surrounded by his immediate family, he passed quietly away.
His funeral was held at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon and was attended by a large number of his old friends and neighbors who gathered to pay their last respects to one they had loved and respected in life. Rev. J.J. Simpson preached the funeral sermon. The M.E. choir furnished the music. Interment was made in the Lowell cemetery. Undertaker John Castle had charge of the burial service. The following neighbors acted as pall bearers: Howard Slocomb, B.T. Beckman, Herm Purdy, Dr. John Taylor, H.L. Baughman and Frank Plumber. To the bereaved wife and children we extend sincere sympathy in their great sorrow.
