David Burnham

The following unidentified newspaper article was in a collection owned by Lowell Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    MARRIED FIFTY YEARS

October, 30, 1874, Mr. and Mrs. David Burnham, of Schneider, were united in marriage at Cornell, Livingston county, Ill., and last Thursday was the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage. The old couple were sitting quietly by their fire in their home in Schneider last Thursday evening, when in walked about thirty of their friends to remind them of the anniversary and to spend the evening with them. The surprise was complete and the old couple soon recovered and proved to their guests that they were a good host and hostess. The evening was very pleasantly spent by all in visiting. Refreshments were served. The out of town guests were Rachael Fallman and Ruby Brownell, of Pontiac, Ill. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Allen Stott, who had been married 44 years. On departing for their homes the guests wished Mr. and Mrs. Burnham many happy returns of the day.
