The following December 11, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 5:

    Shelby Soldier Receives Field Training

    Two Indiana soldiers, Pfc. Benhart T. Jacobsen of Macy, and Pfc. Donald C. Uhter, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Uhter of Shelby, train with an aiming circle used in their heavy mortar platoon with the 12th Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. Both Hoosiers are receiving intensive field training as members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Army.
