Donald Clark

Donald Clark

The following unidentified newspaper article, hand-dated Jan. 15, 1931, was found in the local history clipping files at Lowell Public Library:
About 7:30 Monday morning, soon after opening the Belshaw elevator, Donald Clark, who works there, was held up by two men, who entered the office with guns and ordered him to throw up his hands, which he did. He was ordered to open the safe, and then the men proceeded to tie him and rifle the safe. Being early in the morning and on Monday morning there was very little money in the safe and they only got two dollars and they then proceeded to go thru his pockets and took five dollars more and his watch. The watch was highly prized by him, as it was a graduation present. They also took a revolver that was in the desk. It took Donald about fifteen minutes to get loose and give the alarm, and by this time the robbers were gone. They were driving a Ford sedan bearing an Indiana license. No trace of the men has been found.
