Donald Gene "Don" Frederick
- News comes from Don Frederick concerning his enlistment in the army on November 1st. Since graduating from Lowell high school last spring, Don has been working in Gatlinburg, Tenn. He has volunteered for paratroop service and after completing 16 weeks of infantry basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C., he will go to Ft. Benning, Georgia, for jump training. Don Fredericks Completes Airborne Course
The airborne course which Don has completed is designed to train volunteer officers and enlisted personnel from all arms and branches of the service as qualified parachutists. Students are required to make five jumps from an airplane in flight, including one with full equipment.The airborne course is but one of 18 at the Infantry School open to officers and enlisted men of the Regular Army, Organized Reserve and National Guard. Courses range from training recruits to be parachutists to training regimental commanders and division general staff officers.
Don was a popular student at L.H.S. from where he was graduated with the class of '51. He enlisted on November 5, 1951, at Knoxville, Tenn., and is serving with the 42nd class of Company G.
