The following October 11, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 6, column 3:

    FORMER L.H.S. FACULTY MEMBER MARRIED SEPT. 29 *

    Miss Doris Margery Rose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Rose of Cedar Lake, and former English and dramatics teacher at Lowell high school the past four years, was united in marriage to Lt. Jack Harold Wheeler, son of Mrs. J.G. Malcolm of Pittsburg, Texas, Saturday, Sept. 20th, * the Rev. J.J. Bailey of the First Methodist church of Crown Point, performing the ceremony.

    Roy Rose, the bride's uncle, sang, accompanied by Miss Evelyn Ann Bailey. The bride was attended by her cousin, Joan Hoffman, as maid of honor and by Wilma Jean Buhman of Crisman as bridesmaid. Ted Hanson of Hammond was best man and Pfc. Paul Rose of Hammond was usher.

    Only relatives and personal friends attended and dinner was served to 50 at the Youchee country club. Reception followed at the Rose residence.

    The bride is a graduate of Crown Point high school, attended Northwestern university and graduated from Indiana U. She taught English and dramatics at Lowell high for the past four years, is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and Tri Kappa sorority.

    The new husband attended the University of Texas where he majored in engineering. Lieut. Dunn completed 35 missions as navigator on a B-29 over Japan before the end of the war. He received the distinguished flying cross, air medal with four oak leaf clusters, Asiatic theater ribbon and two battle stars.

    The newlyweds left on a wedding trip for San Antonio, Texas, where Lieut. Dunn reports to Kelly Field, October 6.

* Note -- The marriage date was printed as Sept.. 29 in the headline, but as Sept. 20 in the body of the article. Also, the groom is listed as Lt. Jack Harold Wheeler at the beginning of the article, but is referred to as Tieut. Dunn in the last part of the article.
