The following article was found in the January 21, 1943, Lowell Tribune on page 2, column 1:

Receives Letter from Nephew

A letter has been received by Mrs. Clarissa Ebert from her nephew, Dr. Russell Reed, who practiced medicine in LaPorte before entering the army. Dr. Reed, who is well known here, is in a Virginia camp. He says he doesn't like Virginia as well as the good old Hoosier state.
