Dumond family photos

The following essay (author unknown) was enclosed in an envelope of photos of the Dumond family. Punctuation and spellings appear exactly as they were in the essay. The original essay and photos can all be found at the Halsted House Museum.
These are pictures from the Dumond Family that lived on Burnham Street and Kankakee in the late 1890's and early 1900's. Sarah DuMond the wife of Henry Dumond died in Lowell. Henry DuMond then married Neva the sister of Rose Pierce. I do not know Neva's Maiden name. Henry took his new bride Neva, and two daughters, Dorothy and Alma to North Dakota to homestead and become a sheep rancher. The Daughter Dorothy DuMond married Andrew Kjelstrom an immigrant From Norway and a ranch hand on the Sheep ranch. They moved back to this area during the Great War so that their two daughters could attend school in the new city of Gary while Andrew made his living as a carpenter.

Dorothy remembered living on Burnham Street when the Catholic Church, that was on Burnham, burnt. Note the lack of Electrical lines in the pictures of the homes.
