A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the May 17, 1956, Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
Mrs. Dwight Hupp, Former Lowell Resident, Dies at LaPorte
Lowell relatives and friends are grieved to learn of the sudden death Wednesday, May 16, of Mrs. Dwight (Edythe Foster) Hupp, 50, of 412 Glenwood, LaPorte. She had been ill for the past two years, suffering complications following mumps.A graduate of Lowell high school class of 1924, Edythe attended Teachers College of Indianapolis and taught school in this community prior to her marriage.
She was born at Grant Park, Ill., March 27, 1906, the daughter of Mrs. Oca Foster of Lowell and the late DeWayne Foster.
Survivors include her husband Dwight Hupp; two daughters, Miss Minnie Joyce Hupp, student at the University of New Mexico, and Mrs. Den Carter and children Kathy and Larry of LaPorte; her mother, Mrs. Oca Foster and a brother, Austin Foster of Lowell and a sister, Mrs. Paul (Peggy) Lewis of Crown Point.
Funeral services and burial will be in LaPorte but arrangements have not been made.
