Emery M. Thomas (1854-1944)

The following article was found in the March 2, 1944, Lowell Tribune on page 3, column 3:

    Emery M. Thomas, youngest son of John S. and Mary Elizabeth Thomas, was born in Lake county, Ind., on October 20, 1854, and departed this life at his home in Lowell on February 20, 1944, at the age of 89 years and 10 months.

    On December 1st, 1880, he was united in marriage to Esther Ann Clement and to this union were born six children, Mrs. Thomas and three children preceding him in death. Mrs. Thomas, one son, Milo, and a daughter, Mary, died in 1918, and one son, Aldus, died in Jan., 1920.

    Emery Thomas became a member of the Pine Grove Christian church and in later years placed his membership with the Church of Christ in Lowell and was a member of the church board for several years.

    He leaves to mourn their loss, his three children, Clara of Lowell, with whom he has made his home since the death of his wife, John of Leroy, Donald of Lowell; three grand-daughters and three great grand-daughters; also one sister, Mary Reed of Walkerton, Ind., and many other near relatives and friends.

    Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 at Sheets funeral home, Rev. E.L. Worley officiating. Burial was made in Lowell cemetery in charge of Kenneth Sheets
