Memorial Service Today For Mrs. Emma Bell, 91
Memorial services are being conducted today, September 13, at 2 p.m., in the Eskridge Funeral Home for Mrs. Emma G. Bell, 91, who passed away Tuesday morning. Mrs. Esther Fiefield, Reader of the First Christian Church of Christ, Scientist, Crown Point, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Lowell cemetery.Mrs. Bell has made her home in Lowell with her daughter and family, the C.R.Ashtons, for the past 18 years, since the death of her husband, John A. Bell, in 1938.
Emma (Guinup) Bell was born August 13, 1865, in Fine, New York. She taught school for several years, then was affiliated with the Salvation Army. In this work she traveled broadly and it was at Pontiac, Mich., that she met and married John in 1899. The couple resided in the Pontiac-Detroit area throughout their married life, where they were members of the Baptist church. Surviving besides Mrs. Ashton is one son, Clarence W. Bell of Manilus, New York; also six grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends.
