Little Girl Drowns
Ethel Marion Osby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Osby, of Riverdale, Ill., was drowned in Bass Lake July 4. She was in bathing and stepped in a hole and was unable to get out and drowned before help could arrive. Her body was quickly recovered and doctors and nurses worked with a pulmotor without success. She was at San Pierre visiting her uncle and aunt and they were spending the day at Bass Lake.Ethel was born at Schneider and at the time of her death was 11 years, 8 months and 22 days old. She moved from Schneider with her parents to Riverdale, Ill., about five years ago and has since made her home there. She leaves to mourn her untimely death her father and mother, one brother and many other relatives.
Funeral services were held at Riverdale and interment made in Oaklawn cemetery. There were many beautiful flowers, many of them being sent by her little schoolmates, by whom she was greatly beloved.
Those attending the funeral services from this section were: Mr. and Mrs. Otto Martin, Mrs. Aud Osby, Mr. and Mrs. John Love, Mrs. Ben Canfield, and Mr. and Mrs. M.A. Hoag. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of their many friends here in their great sorrow.
