The following April 8, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 1:

    Taking Officers' Training

    Gene Taylor, son of Dr. John Taylor, has been transferred to Norfolk, Va., for further officers training.

This February 10, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
    S/1 Gene Taylor, who spent last week here with his father, John A. Taylor, and wife, his brother, Jack, and sister, Mrs. Charles Larson, and families, has returned to his base at Norfolk, Va., where he has been stationed for some time.

This Lowell Tribune article was found in the March 29, 1945, issue (page 2, column 1):
    Gene Taylor, A.M.M. 2/c, son of John A. Taylor, Halsted St., Lowell, arrived home from overseas last week-end on a 30-day leave. Gene, who is crew captain, rear machine gunner and photographer on a navy Ventura bomber, has seen several months service in the Marshall Islands in the south Pacific, one of the island groups in the Pacific where many Japs cut off by U.S. forces, still remain.

This April 26, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
    Gene Taylor, A.M.M. 2/c, after spending a 30-day leave at home, left Monday for Lake City, Fla., where he will be reassigned to duty.

This August 2, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
    AMM 2/c Eugene Taylor and wife were here for a Sunday visit with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. John A. Taylor, and other relatives. Gene, who was married recently, is now stationed at the naval air station at Lambert Field, St. Louis, since returning from overseas duty.

This September 20, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 1:
    Eugene Taylor, son of Dr. John Taylor, Lowell, who was recently discharged from the naval air corps after 3 1/2 years in the service, has resumed his position as clerk in the Lowell postoffice this week.
    During his absence, the position was filled by Harold Brownell.
