Miss Evelyn Worley Bride of Clyde Wietbrock

Trinity Lutheran church in Lowell was the scene of a pretty formal wedding ceremony at three o'clock Saturday afternoon, April 18, 1953, when Miss Evelyn Lucille Worley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Worley of 9719 Prairie Avenue, Chicago, became the bride of Clyde A. Wietbrock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman A. Wietbrock of East Commercial Avenue.

Baskets of white gladioli and snap dragons and tall green palms decorated the chancel and white tapers burned in high seven-branched candelabra on either side of the altar. Rev. William Adam solemnized the impressive double ring rites in the presence of a large assemblage of friends and relatives.

Mrs. Arnold Rosenthal, organist, provided bridal music as the guests were seated by Eugene Novack, cousin of the groom, and the bride's brother, Darold Worley, acting for Robert Adam, who stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., was unable to attend. Mrs. Rosenthal accompanied Mrs. Earl Gerlck as she sang "The Lord's Prayer," "Because" and "Always."

Escorted down the white carpeted aisle by her father, the bride was lovely in an exquisite gown of white nylon tulle over satin. Fashioned with long sleeves cut to Mary Stuart points over the wrists, the fitted bodice was designed with deep points in front and back and a high round neckline which was set off by a beautiful pearl necklace, gift of the groom. The very full skirt extended into a long cathedral train. Lace edged her nylon tulle veil of finger tip length which cascaded from a pearl encrusted tiara. Orchids centered her bouquet of white roses.

For her role as matron of honor, Mrs. E. Schroeder of Chicago, friend of the bride, appeared in an orchid gown of nylon tulle over taffeta, styled with a lace jacket. A half wreath of yellow roses adorned her hair and yellow roses formed her bouquet.

The Misses Marilyn Wietbrock, sister of the groom, and Adelia Cadore of Chicago, friend of the bride, wore gowns of pastel green, identical in style to that worn by Mrs. Schroeder. Red roses comprised their bouquets and wreaths.

Petite Marjorie Worley, flower girl and niece of the bride, was adorable in a formal hoop-skirted gown of orchid net. Yellow roses were caught in her curls and from a dainty white basket she strew rose petals in the bride's path leading to the altar.

William Smith, friend of the groom, attended as best man.

For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Worley chose a rose lace dress and navy accessories. Mrs. Wietbrock selected a lace trimmed dress of turquoise nylon fialle and white and black accessories. Both wore orchids.

Members of the bridal party and immediate families enjoyed dinner at the White Swan preceding the reception for 300 guests at the Lowell Legion hall, where the bride cut her beautifully decorated four tier wedding cake.

For honeymoon travel to Florida, the bride wore an orchid wool gabardine suit and black accessories. Upon their return, the couple will reside in Lowell.

An alumna of Fenger high school in Chicago and McCormick College of Commerce, the bride was a secretary in the office of Swift and Company. She also taught evening classes in music, piano. A graduate of Lowell high school, Clyde is employed at Schreiber's Hudson Sales and Service.
