Father Jurashek

Father Jurashek

The following September 10, 1925 Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1, column 4:

    FORMER HANOVER CENTER PRIEST DIES

Father Jurashek, former pastor of St. Martin parish at Hanover Center, passed away at Alexian Brothers' hospital, Chicago, last Friday, after an illness of three years, which was in the last few months diagnosed as cancer of the stomach. He was recently brought to Chicago from a hospital in Pensacola, Florida, where he had spent some time in hopes of recovering his health, but gradually he became weaker and as the end neared he was brought north as a last wish.

Three years ago Father Jurashek in the early stages of his illness was relieved from active service by the diocese, and his place taken by Rev. Hottenroth, in whose church yard the deceased was laid away Monday, as the Rev. Jurashek had no relatives in this country.

Very solemn and impressive services were held at St. Martin church Monday morning, in which Bishop Noel and thirty nearby priests, led by Rev. Hottenroth, took part in the last rites for the former pastor.
