Observe Golden Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Duncan, Sr. marked fifty years of married happiness on March 21, and were honored on the Golden Event at an open house arranged by their family. 200 guests attended the reception held at the Schneider V.F.W. hall Sunday afternoon.Mr. Duncan and his bride of fifty years ago, the former Stella Simpson, came to the Schneider Lowell community 43 years from Tennessee. Farming has been his lifetime occupation.
Ted Coons at the console of his organ provided appropriate selections throughout the reception hours, while the couple's granddaughters, the Misses Phyllis Ann Duncan, Gay Sharkey and Carolyn Beneke, served delicious refreshments of anniversary cake, ice cream, punch and coffee from a formally appointed table adorned with golden flowers and lighted tapers.
The celebrants received many lovely gifts, most precious was a beautiful leather bound picture album containing photographs of their 12 children and their families. The album was a gift of their children, as was the corsage of yellow sweetheart roses which Mrs. Duncan pinned to the shoulderline of her printed silk dress.
Mr. and Mrs. Duncan's 12 children, all present to share the memorable occasion, include Mrs. Ann Sharkey of Lowell, Mrs. Marie Falkenstein and Mrs. Huberta Beneke of Berwyn, Ill., Mrs. Minnie Stakley of Benton Harbor, Mich., Mrs. Ruth Summers of Gary, Floyd, Jr. of Schneider, Roy of Lowell, Kenneth of Monon, Mrs.Norma Jean Martin of Lowell, Charles of Crown Point, Mrs. Inell Busselberg of Hebron and Bud of Schneider.
