Francis J. Halfman (1920-1991)
Released from Hospital
Following an illness of several weeks, Pvt. Francis Halfman, has been released from the hospital. He is stationed in a California camp.The following article from Southlake Register (Apr. 10, 1991) can be found in the Local History Files at Lowell Public Library (LH--Vital Statistics, vol. 2, page 90):
- Francis J. Halfman, 70, of Lowell died Monday, April 1, at Broadway Methodist Hospital.
- He is survived by his wife Rosemary Etzel; one daughter Joanne Sanders of Cedar Lake; two sons Larry (Mardline) Halfman of Missouri; Dennis (Sharon) Halfman of Lake Village, Ill.; six grandchildren; one brother Wilbur Halfman of Lowell; four sisters, Irene LeFever of Portage, Marian Wesley of Hobart, Anna Mae Goodman of Florida, and Lucille Mueller of Michigan.
- Mass of Christian Burial was officiated by Fr. Thomas Mischler at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Lowell on Friday, April 5. Interment was at Lowell Memorial Cemetery.
- Halfman was a retired employee of Inland Steel and was a WW II Veteran.

- Age 70, of Lowell, Indiana, passed away Monday, April 1, 1991. He was married November 28, 1945 to Rosemary Etzel, who survives. Also survived by 1 daughter, Joanne Sanders of Cedar Lake; 2 sons, Larry (Mardalin) Halfman of Missouri and Dennis (Sharon) Halfman of Lake Village, Indiana; 6 grandchildren and 2 great gradnchildren; 1 brother, Wilbur Halfman of Lowell; 4 sisters, Irene LaFever of Portage, Marian Wesley of Hobart, Anna Mae Goodman of Florida and Lucille Mueller of Michigan. Funeral services will be conducted from the Sheets Funeral Home, 604 E. Commercial Avenue, Lowell, Indiana at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 5th, Father Thomas Mischler officiating. Burial Lowell Memorial Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, Mr. Halfman was a retired employee of the Inland Steel Company, a World War II veteran and a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church.
