The following Lowell Tribune news item appeared in a "Sixty Years Ago" column and was originally dated June 21, 1923:
- A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Koonce Tuesday. This makes fourteen children born to them -- seven boys and seven girls. All the children are living. Mr. and Mrs. Kooce can claim the honor of having the largest family in southern Lake county and we do not know but what they can claim the largest one in northern Indiana.
This Jan. 8, 1924, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 5, column 3:
- Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Koonce, January 4th, a son.
