Death of Frank S. Bedell
Letters received here last Saturday evening from Los Angeles, Cal., bought the news of the death of F.S. Bedell who expired on the morning of July 1st at 7 o'clock, a.m., after being sick but 24 hours.He was close to 80 years of age, and from about 1858 to 1884 was closely identified with Crown Point and Lake County and was well known in those times by everybody in the county. Most of that time he was engaged in the Register office and during the time had several partners, starting with A.E. Beattie. Later C.W. Ainsworth becoming a partner, the present editor of the STAR was a partner from 1874 to 1880, when his interest went to John Millikan. Two or three years after that Mr. Bedell sold his interest to Mr. Millikan, and under the Garfield administration was a mail inspector and drifted away to the Pacific coast where he remained the balance of his life, coming back here but three times. He came here from the east and it is thought some of his family members are living. His wife, Mrs. Lelia G. Bedell, youngest of the Solon Robinson family, survives and lives at Tryon, North Carolina. He had many Lake County friends in Los Angeles but no relatives.
The funeral was held at his home at 1812 Bonnie Brae Street, on Thursday, and the remains were buried at Oakdale cemetery.
