The following August 3, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 3, column 1:

    Wounded in Action

    Word has been received by Mrs. George Brooks, former resident here, now of Crown Point, that her son, S/Sgt. George Brooks, has been wounded in action while with the invasion forces in France, and is now hospitalized. George's many friends here are hoping that his wounds are not serious.
