The following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the July 22, 1954, Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
    Final rites for George C. Lambert, 88, retired railroader and former Dyer resident who died Sunday in East Chicago's Saint Catherine hospital, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fagen Funeral Home. Burial was made in Morocco, Indiana.

    Lambert had recently moved to East Chicago, where he made his home at 4605 Baring Avenue. He was born and reared in Lowell, later moving to Dyer, where he was employed.

    Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ada Liskey, of East Chicago, Mrs. Faith Campbell of Hammond, Mrs. Grace Duncan [of] Griffith, and Mrs. Pearl Ramos of Oceanside, California; two sons, Ralph of St. Ann, Ill., and Arlie Lee of East Chicago.
