Takes Own Life With Poison
GEORGE DOAK, AGE 90 YEARS, SUICIDES WHILE DESPONDENT
George Doak, one of Eagle Creek township's most highly esteemed citizens, in a fit of despondency last Sunday morning committed suicide by taking poison. Mr. Doak was nearly ninety years of age and for some time he has felt that he was going to be a burden on his son, Jay Doak, and wife, with whom he has made his home and this perhaps had worked on his mind until he took his life. Another thing that made him feel despondent, was the death of his daughter, Miss Mary Doak, a short time ago. He has been in as good health as a man of his age could expect to be, but like many old people began to realize that he might become a care and it worried him. Mrs. Doak took him his breakfast Sunday and found him sick and went to open a window to get fresh air and Mr. Doak told her to never mind that he had taken something and it would soon be over. On investigation it was found that he had taken a dose of arsenic. He only lived a short time after they found him.The deceased was a man who bore the esteem of every one who knew him and his death was a great shock to his neighbors and friends.
