George E. Villers
- Mr. and Mrs. Abe Villers received a message Tuesday from their son George, who is with the U.S. Navy, that he arrived safely in Japan.
The following June 21, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 3, column 3:
- Mr. and Mrs. Abe Villers were pleasantly surprised last Saturday evening when they received a phone call from their son, George, who had just arrived in California from duty aboard the USS Phillipine Sea, active in the Korean area since the onset of the war. George, who has served with the Navy for three years, anticipates a visit home about July 25th.

- After spending the past year aboard the U.S.S. Phillippine Sea, in the Korean war zone, George Villers arrived at the home of his parents, the Abe Villers, to enjoy a 30-day leave. Last May marked the completion of his third year of service with the Navy.
The following November 22, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 4:
- George Villers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Villers, arrived home on Saturday from Oakland, Calif., where he had been hospitalized before receiving a medical discharge on November 9th. George, who previously served a year with the Merchant Marines, enlisted in the Navy May 27, 1948, and recently served 8 months in the Korean war zone.
The following newspaper article, hand-dated August 3, 1955, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
George Villers Appointed Lowell Cemetery Sexton
George Villers was appointed sexton of the Lowell cemetery at a meeting of the Lowell cemetery Board Tuesday evening.George, the son of the late Abe Villers, former sexton, who through his 27 years of service made the Lowell cemetery a most beautiful place.
George has helped his father during these latter years, and is very capable of carrying on the many services which his father rendered. George has the best wishes of the board and the community for success in his new position.
