This January 7, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
    In a cablegram to his parents, the Ed Stuppys, Gilbert Stuppy states he arrived safely overseas and is well.
The following article was found in the January 28, 1943, Lowell Tribune on page 2, column 1:

    Gilbert Stuppy in Seabees

    The Ed Stuppys of Creston received word recently from their son, Gilbert, that he had arrived safely in Ireland with members of the Seabees battalion.
This April 13, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 1:
    Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stuppy were pleasantly surprised Saturday when they received a picture of their two sons, Halvor and Gilbert, both in England. Halvor is with the army and Gilbert is a member of the Sea-Bees. On March 19th the brothers met for the first time in nearly 18 months.
    Another son, Robert, recently inducted, is stationed at Camp Fannin, Texas. He writes that he likes army life very much.
    The Stuppys' youngest son, Murray, was inducted in the army Monday, April 10th.
    Mr. and Mrs. Stuppy also have a son-in-law, Ensign Wm. Buchanan, on duty on a destroyer in the Pacific.
The following Sept. 21, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2 column 1:

    Home On Furlough

    Gilbert Stuppy, E.M. 2/c, son of the Ed Stuppys, who has been stationed overseas with the Seabees the past two years, arrived home last week-end on furlough.
The following September 28, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5 column 3:
    Two of the four sons of the Ed Stuppys, who are in the service, are home on furlough: Gilbert, stationed with the Seabees in Ireland and England the past two years and Pfc. Murray, with the transportation corps in Wyoming. Murray's wife and daughter are here from Columbus, Ohio, to be with him. Cpl. Halvor Stuppy is at present participating in the invasion of Holland and Pvt. Robert Stuppy is in New York.
The following October 19, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4 column 1:

    Returns to Camp

    Gilbert Stuppy, E.M. 2/c, returned to Camp Endicott, R.I., last Saturday, after a 30-day leave spent here with his wife, the former Rowena Collins, and his parents, the Ed Stuppys.
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the March 29, 1945, issue (page 2, column 1):
    Gilbert Stuppy, E.M. 2/c, arrived home Monday from California, where he had been hospitalized for some time. He has received a medical discharge from service. His wife, who has been staying in California with him, accompanied him home.
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the March 29, 1945, issue (page 2, column 2):
    Two more brothers enjoyed a visit together when Pvt. Robert Stuppy and his brother, Halvor, with the 82nd airborne division, now resting in France, met on March 10th and spent the evening together. They had a most enjoyable visit talking over things going on in the old home town.
    One year ago, Bob and another brother, Gilbert, E.M. 2/c, met in England.
This September 27, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 4:
    Cpl. John and Cpl. Gilbert Stuppy are home on furlough from overseas at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Stuppy.
