The following November 9, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:

    Taking Training in Alabama

    A card from the War Department states that Pvt. Glen E. Childress, son of the Elmer Childress' has been sent to Fort McClellan, Ala., for his basic training.

This Lowell Tribune article was found in the April 5, 1945, issue (page 2, column 1):
    Pvt. Glen E. Childress, son of the Elmer Childresses of near Hebron, formerly of Lowell, has been transferred recently from Camp White, Ore., to Camp Tulelake, Calif., where he is training to be a military policeman. He has been in the service since October, 1944.

A July 19, 1945, Lowell Tribune article (page 2, column 1) mentions that Pvt. Glenn E. Childress, M.P. was on furlough. He was stationed at Tule Lake, California.
This August 16, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
    Pvt. Glenn Childress, M.P., has returned to camp at Tule Lake, Calif., after a 21-day furlough spent with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Childress.
