The following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the March 1, 1956, Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    GLENN SHEPARD, FORMER BUICK SALESMAN, DIES IN AUTO ACCIDENT

    Glenn Shepard, 30, a Valparaiso auto dealer who formerly was with the J.B. Buick Co. here, was killed instantly Saturday night when his car skidded on ice and struck a tree as he drove on Ind. 8 a mile from Kouts.

    Service for Shepard were held at 9 a.m. Tuesday and burial was in St. Paul's cemetery, at Valparaiso.

    His wife, Ruth, suffered a fractured arm and wrist.

    Atty. and Mrs. Alton Meyer of Valparaiso, passengers in the Shepard car, were both critically injured and the attorney died Monday night at Porter Memorial hospital.
