HATHAWAY-STRICKLAND
A simple, but very pretty wedding occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hathaway, of West Creek township, on Saturday p.m., April 7, when their youngest daughter, Grace, became the bride of Harold Strickland, son of Frank Strickland, of Lowell. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Hackley, of the Lowell M.E. church, in the presence of the immediate relatives of the bride and groom. With Ruth Hathaway at the piano, Harriet Wason and Jeanette Dahl very sweetly sang "Always" after which Mendelssohn's wedding march was played by Mrs. Merle Belshaw Kellogg, of Crown Point. The bride, with Miss Nadine Meehan as maid of honor, the groom attended by his father, Frank Strickland, Miss Sigrid Strickland and Miss Marjorie Wason bridesmaids, and the little Misses Doris Wason and Dorothy Hathaway flower girls, made up the bridal party.
The bride is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Music and has been music supervisor in St. Louis, in the Lowell High school and other schools of this locality. This year she has been supervisor in the East Chicago schools.
The groom is a graduate of the Valparaiso School of Law and is now an attorney in Hammond.
After a short honeymoon trip they will be at home to their friends in East Chicago.
