Harvey Lovet Snyder (1858-1923)
- Harvey Lovet Snyder, son of Mary J. and John M. Snyder, was born September 5, 1858, at a small place near Rossville, Ill., which at that time was called Bluegrass, and passed quietly away at his late home near Momence, Ill., November 17, 1923, at the age of 65 years, 2 months and 12 days. While yet a small child his parents moved to Fountain County, Ind., where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Louise Ellen Brant on March 3, 1881, at Waynetown, Ind. To this union nine children were born, six boys and three girls. Two children died in infancy. Most of his life was spent as a farmer in and around Fountain county, until in the spring of 1910, when he moved near Momence, Ill., where he spent the remainder of his life.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his widow, and the following children: Mrs. Zora A. Crady, of Clarkshill, Ind.; Fred N., Floyd M., and Clarence B., all of Indianapolis, Ind.; Stanley J., who resided with his parents; Mrs. Hazel N. Estill, of Momence, Ill.; Mrs. Mary L. Gilson, of Chicago. Also nine grand-children, four brothers and one sister and a host of relatives and friends.
Early in life he united with the United Brethren church. He was a charter member of the Modern Woodman of America. Mr. Snyder was a devoted husband and loving father and always made friends wherever he went.
Funeral services were conducted from the Baptist church at Waynetown, Ind., Tuesday, November 20 at 2 p.m. Interment was made in the Masonic Cemetery.
